The wild and wooded marshland which makes Brêmes so charming is well-known. « Its mysterious beauty is particularly evident at sunset ».
The church in this very spread-out village was built in a Neo--Gothic style, and its ceiling, apparently made of wood, is impressive. The chapel, dedicated to Notre Dame des Larmes (« our lady of tears »), is tucked away near a little road, and people call on this saint to help with eye problems.
For several years, the chimney which is all that remains of a very productive brick factory has been the centre of an annual event known as “beffrois du travail”, which commemorates the industrial heritage and economic activity of the 20th century.
New homes show us that this dynamic village is still expanding.
